Our Open Water Program will get you prepared for your open water event. The program includes coached, group, open water swims virtually every week during the season.
Open water workouts are held every other Wednesday and one Sunday each month.
Sprint and Skills: Wed: 6-7pm at Lake Salisbury. Workouts are on a marked course and involve a combination of open water skills, intervals and endurance training. Due to space limitations these workouts are available only to Program members and those paying a drop-in donation to SwimRVA.
Distance Training: Sun: 9am-? at Traylor Estates Boat Ramp. These workouts are endurance based, supported workouts. The season will start with a two-hour swim and progress to as much as four hours. On the water boats and jetskis will hold hydration and nutrition for athletes as they swim as well as provide safety protection from boat traffic or other obstacles. Post-swim refreshments will be available. These swims are not for beginner swimmers and open water experience is strongly advised. ALL swimmers must register for these swims. REGISTER HERE

In the event we have predicted inclement weather or water conditions, we will make a cancellation determination no later than 1-hr prior to the workout the day of the swim. Notices will be posted on our Facebook and Twitter pages. If there is no notice posted, the swim will be held as scheduled.
Non-members may drop-in to any of our open water workouts. There is a suggested donation to SwimRVA of $15 for lake swims and $25 for Sunday swims.
Our use of Lake Salisbury is an extreme privilege. This is a beautiful, private lake in the Salisbury subdivision. Speeding in the neighborhood and/or excessive noise (i.e. loud music from your vehicle) will quickly put an end to our welcome. Failure to abide by these rules puts our entire program at risk and thus will be grounds for termination of your membership.
